Spring is a great season to go on a family ski vacation. The weather is typically warmer, the crowds are smaller, and blue skies are common.  This creates the perfect conditions for family spring skiing.

Palisades Tahoe, California

Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley), is one of the best spring skiing destinations in the Western United States.  Not only does Palisades Tahoe have one of the latest ski resort closing dates in the Sierra’s but the spring skiing scene is super fun here.

Palisades Taho has a unique setup with an upper and a lower mountain, providing lots of variety in both terrain and access.  When the lower elevations have started to warm up and melt, the upper mountain at Palisades Tahoe is ideal for incredible spring skiing. The upper mountain here has a huge variety of terrain, so it’s suitable for everyone from first-timers to expert skiers. 

If the weather is really starting to warm up, hit the slopes in the morning and get in some quick laps, and then head down to Lake Tahoe for some paddleboarding in the afternoon. 

Big Sky, Montana
